Celebrating 6 Months in Paradise

firstpostcollege

Recently my family and I celebrated an awesome blessing, 6 months since we arrived to create a new life in our paradise. August 2014 St. Petersburg Florida became our new home town on just a shoe string budget. We traveled over a thousand miles south for an overall better quality of life. Was it worth it? Every moment the answer will be yes!

There are practically endless opportunities for family outings here in Pinellas County and the surrounding areas. Aside from the obvious amazing beaches and parks there are countless concerts, children’s programs, markets, and themed events. All for the price of a pizza or better yet, free. This is very much a hidden gem for this area. The amazing sense of community and importance of actively spending time together as a family is not only a staple here but what helps elevate this already great area to an amazing place to raise a family.

Since moving here from the busy North we have found a deeper connection and stronger sense of family. This beauty and happier lifestyle is something we love to share with others. Whether you’re planning a visit or thinking of moving here we hope that our adventures can inspire you to explore and slow down to enjoy an already busy life.

Our goals for finishing up our first Florida year include eating healthier as a family (budgets and moving killed our normal diets!), explore more by choosing at least two outings a week, finding more “me” time, and disconnecting from the world more often.

Thank you for stopping by and sharing such a great milestone with us! We hope you’ll join us for the next 6 months exploring paradise and beyond. If you have any great experiences or stories from the area feel free to share them with us.

  1. Thanks a lot for following my blog. Yours is quite interesting because WAY back in 1971 I lived in a tiny cabin right next to the Madeira Beach Bridge. A few years ago I visited a friend in the area, and we went to my old neighborhood. It has certainly changed over all those years, and not for the better!
I’m glad you are enjoying your new home and all that the area has to offer. A warm climate allows you to spend almost your entire life outside, which is one reason we are in Mexico!

    • Thank you for your comment😊. We have only been to Madiera one so far but prefer a few beaches to the North so gravitate there. I would dorms my entire life outdoors if I could! Mexico sounds wonderful as well!!

  2. Hi Mandy, I live up in Marion County just outside of Ocala. I’ve been here with my hubby for two years having come down from CA via a 3-1/2 year stint in TN. Whew! I love Florida! Glad to get to know your nice blog. Have a great coming week!
